Title:  Mechanical Design Engineer/Medical device

Location: Waltham, MA

Duration: 6 months +              

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and facilitate the innovation process with regard to creating new design solutions.
• Conceptual design of novel products to advance business goals. 
• Development of complex mechanism designs for innovative medical device/systems and technical problem solving.
• Front end conceptual design, prototyping and testing of ideas for new products.
• Proactively interact with customers and health care providers. Comprehend and interpret their needs and requirements correctly and transfer the comprehension into novel product designs effectively.
• Improve and incorporate novel features into existing products. Confirm product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and systems.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Mechanical designer with a strong mechanical aptitude with a minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design (advanced degrees strongly preferred)
• Minimum of 5-10 years experience as a designer in engineering design firm or mechanical engineer in medical device industry
• Ability to create novel designs based on customer needs
• Ability to lead and facilitate the innovation process with regard to creating new design solutions.
• Must be a self-starter who can start with a blank sheet of paper and land with multiple promising design concepts
• Strong creative ability and advanced technical judgment
• Mechanism design experience, drug delivery related a plus
• Proficient in Pro/E and/or SolidWorks
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams
