Title:  Mechanical Engineer, R&D

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Mechanical Engineer R&D will be responsible for the development of new products for consumer market. The individual will take a critical role in research & development and be responsible for driving projects in accordance with the agreed upon design and performance criteria, schedules, and cost targets. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of taking new products from concept to launch. This candidate will possess the ability to:

  • Be a team player in a diverse, collaborative research environment with the ability to develop and maintain win – win relationships with all stake holders.
  • Create robust solutions for complex packaging designs involving environmental, mechanical and thermal limitations.
  • Creatively resolve technical issues that can be implemented on a mass production scale.
  • Identify, develop and maintain a comprehensive product / component specification set that meets the company’s internal expectations.
  • Communicate the product / component requirements clearly and succinctly to all stake holders.
  • Lead small technical teams and technicians in delivering product development to the program milestones.
  • Monitor and communicate development status with stake holders
  • Develop and negotiate project schedules with stake holders.
  • Develop cost effective designs in selection of materials and manufacturing methods, conducting the appropriate analysis and computer modeling to determine optimum solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Manufacturing a plus.
  • 5 to 8 years experience in injection molding, vacu-forming and plastic welding techniques of high volume parts.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in developing products from early concept to finished product.
  • Track record of driving projects in accordance with schedules, performance goals and cost targets.
  • Computer proficiency – SolidWorks, ProE, Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, etc.
  • A cross discipline understanding of fundamental engineering as they relate to product design and high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience in disposable medical product a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • This position requires 15% travel
