Mechanical Engineer
Location: Boston, MA

Description of Duties:
- Key technical leader of the mechanical
engineering and detailing team in the mechanical design for lean
manufacturing of and the mechanical analysis of equipment
enclosures and product packaging.
- Must be experienced with electronic
packaging techniques, and must be capable of performing both
steady-state and transient thermal and seismic analyses.
- Must be experienced in heat transfer and
fluid dynamics problems.
- Must interface with project electrical
engineers on a regular basis, and must understand issues
associated with high voltage (1000V) power distribution, and
EMI.
- Responsible for identifying and
prioritizing improvements in mechanical, thermal and structural
designs and design practices, and leadership of a mechanical
engineering team focused on innovative mechanical, thermal and
structural packaging.
- Thermal and structural analysis of high
power modular electronic switching converters and motor drives,
both at the LRU level, and at the cabinet level is required.
- Will perform a key role in proposal
writing and review, including concept formulation, description,
and estimation.
Qualifications or Background Needed:
- Minimum of 10 years of directly relevant
technical experience with designing and analyzing enclosures and
subassemblies for lean manufacturing for ultimate production at
a remote facility, with more than three years of experience in a
leadership role of a mechanical engineering team.
- Must be proficient with Pro/E CAD software
and fluent in the use of ProE Mechanica and MATLAB; capable of
performing structural, thermal and cooling analyses and design.
- Experienced with process management,
document control, and configuration management procedures.
- Minimum of MSME. PhD a plus.
- Track record of success in power
electronics packaging design and analysis
